…. Thank you very, very much for the wonderful event you set up, to cap it all, at Urban Tandoor.
Our guests enjoyed the party hugely — the food, ambiance, and great service, in the most relaxing outdoor setting. You – and the weather gods – certainly did put out the red carpet and smiles for us that afternoon.
Thank you, again.
So all in all, it was a wonderful evening that was much enjoyed by all.
Please thank everyone who was involved in the festivities from our side.
I wish you continued success in your venture and hope that you get additional business based on our party, as well.
The decor of Urban Tandoor is super nice and the perfect destination for a date. White tablecloths and cloth napkins included! I had trouble trying to decipher which boxes I should check to describe the ambience of Urban Tandoor. It is casual, but classy. It is also trendy, intimate and romantic. It fits the bill for all occasions! I came here on a Friday about 5 pm and it was quiet and fairly empty. However, with the predominence of 5 star reviews on Yelp, I am expecting this place to be an up and coming hot spot!
The service was extremely friendsly. The owner even came out to talk to us about what we though of the food. This really means a lot to me when restaurants take the time to do this.
The food was fantastic. As we were seated, the server brought out a dish of three dips and a thin crispy naan. They were spicy and amazing. For our meal, we ordered the Paneer and Butter Chicken with medium spice. We also had naan on the side to hep soak up the delicious sauce. To finish my meal, I ordered the mango lassi. It was rich, creamy and fabulous!
Hellllloooo this is not in Lake Zurich, but in Long Grove. Northwest corner of Rt. 22 and Old McHenry Roads.
Now for the good stuff can I saw awesome and welcome to the hood. The service was excellent, the decor was beautiful and the food speaks for itself. I had the Butter Chicken and the Paneer with spinach with garlic naan. As soon as you are seated they bring out crispy flat naan with pickled onions and two dips–one is soo spicy (the green) and the other dark reddish is sweet with a hint of heat. The servers ask if you are familiar with Indian food and what level of spice you would like. I think they were a little surprised that we liked it SPICEY. This did not disappoint.
Their prices were in keeping with every other Indian restaurant. Their menu was extensive and they have a patio which would be a beautiful place to dine because it overlooks a beautiful wetland nature area. They mentioned that they have an extensive lunch buffet. The buffet is the way to go if you have not had Indian before so you can try a variety of their menu. They have another location (Spicey Bites) that I think is a smaller place in Vernon Hills–think I know where I will be going for lunch this week!!
I was at Urban Tandoor for dinner. My girlfriend ordered Veg Thali and I ordered paneer chili as appetizer and vegetable biryani. We had mango creme brulee for dessert. All the things we ordered were delicious.
Service was good and the owners were very hospitable. Restaurant decor is pleasant too. This place is owned by the owner of Spice Bazaar (grocery store in Vernon Hills) and Spicy Bites (Snack place in Vernon Hills).
They have buffet lunches for $ 12. Next time I will like to try it.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
P.S. We were trying to find this place using GPS and GPS took us to around 1 mile away from the place in the middle of nowhere, so we called up the restaurant and they directed us to the place. If you are coming from Buffalo Grove, this restaurant is on Rt 22 just after you cross Old McHenry Rd, just beside Red Cottage Salon and Spa. The address on the google or even on yelp says Lake Zurich, but actually putting the address as “3974 Rte 22, Long Grove, IL 60047″ on the GPS may lead you to the right destination.
Very impressed by this Indian restaurant – this is a rare comment from me. When friends ask for an Indian restaurant recommendation I usually cannot honestly offer a good suggestion but this one stands out above the rest.
The restaurant is located somewhat remotely in Long Grove but not in the main town. The decor is elegant and the room airy with high ceilings – there is an outdoor patio as well which looked lovely.
While many of the items are at the base of it, traditional dishes, – many of them have a twist. The aloo papdi chaat was served in a fried dough bowl with lovely garnishes. The appetizer fish fries were slender strips of tilapia coated in chickpea flour and drizzled with mint chutney. For lunch, you can order Indian wraps, quesadillas, and salads.
The entrees were all attractively served in copper vessels. The tandoor dishes arrived sizzling and with appetite-inducing aromas. The Lucknow Sheek-Kebab in particular was excellent. The Naan was fresh and soft though I do prefer mine a bit charred (same goes for the chicken).
Most Indian restaurants have a problem with heavy-handed spicing and too much oil. All dishes were remarkably grease-free and we were asked for our spice level preference.
This restaurant is worth the trek!
I went here today for their lunch buffet and it was far and away the best Indian buffet I’ve ever been to. 6 vegetarian options, a few meat options, soup, fresh naan, and condiments. The quality was excellent, and the flavors were outstanding, Everything I had was perfect. Only problem is that I don’t get paid enough to eat a $13 lunch every day! I’ll have to save this place for “treat yo’self” days Also, I’d definitely come back for dinner.
Went here for dinner last week. Overall the restaurant was clean and the food was very good. Hope this restaurant survives as it’s in an unusual, quaint “strip mall” that’s in the middle of “nowhere.” The decor is nice but a mix of whatever the old restaurant was (American breakfast place?) with some Indian decorations. While the portions were just right, felt the prices were a bit high for the quantity but that seems to be the case with many Indian restaurants.
Great flavor and selection on the buffet. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff was extremely polite and attentive. This is definitely on our restaurant rotation list. You should try it. I’m sure you’ll be glad you did. Tell your friends, become popular and revered. : )
This place just opened and it is the best Indian food I’ve had outside of India. The service was good, the owners are very friendly and I’m excited to go back.
If you want to try an assortment they have platters that are big enough to split as an entree so you can taste a lot of different things for a reasonable price.
We love this restaurant so much we drive almost an hour to eat here!!!!
